Supported Independent Living
Infinity Coordination & Supports’ Supported Independent Living services (often known as SIL), provide the opportunity for people with NDIS funding to live as independently as possible, either in shared accommodation or as a single occupant in their own home, while receiving supports to help them with daily living.
SIL services are funded under the NDIS and are used to provide assistance with, or supervision of, daily tasks to assist participants live as independently as possible, while building their skills in a supportive environment.
SIL is best suited for participants who have high support needs. This means you require a significant amount of help throughout the day.
SIL funding pays for personal supports and it includes things like someone to help with personal care tasks or cooking meals. SIL funding can help you build these skills too, so you can be more independent.
To access our SIL services, you must have a current NDIS plan with allocated funding for SIL included in your plan.
Our Infinity Coordination & Supports team works closely with participants and their families or carers to help determine the right supports to suit individual needs, personal interests and preferences.
SIL services are tailored to individual needs and options include:
- Up to 24/7 daily living supports with caring staff;
- Support with supervision, safety and security
- Assistance with personal care such as showering and dressing;
- Assistance with capacity building tasks (for example, meal prep and cooking, cleaning, routine development)
- Behaviour support and social skill development
- Administration of medication
- Support to attend medical appointments
- Support to get to and from community access activities
- Complex high support needs
SIL funding supports you while you are in your home. Some other activities may be funded through other NDIS options, such as day programs or other activities to build your capacity.
